LeBron James showed his support for Ohio State as they chase a national championship.
Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes have quite the daunting task ahead of them, as they will have to contend with Mac Jones, Devonta Smith, and an Alabama team that looks like as well-oiled a machine as a college football team can be in the College Football Playoff National Championship. While Ohio State might enter the game as an underdog, Buckeye Nation believes that they’re capable of pulling the upset off, and OSU’s biggest celebrity fan in LeBron James went public about his support for the Buckeyes ahead of such a pivotal game.
James showed up to the Los Angeles Lakers’ road game against the Memphis Grizzlies by sporting an Ohio State Football shirt, showing that he is backing Day, Justin Fields, and the Buckeyes to take down Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.
LeBron James has been known to get behind his Buckeyes whenever they’re competing for a title
James has been known to occasionally put on his fan hat and get really excited whenever the Buckeyes are competing for a title. During the 2017 Big Ten Championship game, a postgame interview with Dwyane Wade featured James cheering on former Buckeye and current Baltimore Ravens back JK Dobbins as Ohio State took down Wisconsin.
Considering that Alabama has the best collection of skill-position talent in the country and Saban on the sidelines, Day is going to need a lot more than some kind words of encouragement from LeBron to pull off the upset.
While James never gave us the pleasure of potentially committing to Ohio State and making complete mincemeat out of college basketball, he’s still a Buckeye homer, and he’ll never pass up a chance to cheer them on if they need his support.
